Meta Agrees To $1.4 Billion Settlement Over Facial Recognition Software

Meta has agreed to pay a $1.4 billion to settle a Texas lawsuit over its facial and voice recognition system. Texas AG Ken Paxton accused Meta of illegally selling user's biometric data without consent. The data was gathered using Facebook's 'tag suggestions' feature, which uses facial recognition. It was the first case brought under a Texas privacy law aimed at protecting biometric data. Meta did not admit to any wrongdoing in the settlement. What steps do you take to protect your data online?  What laws would you like to see in place to prevent companies from selling your personal information?
